Merced man hospitalized following solo vehicle crash
A solo vehicle accident on Arboleda Drive on Tuesday evening landed a Merced man in the hospital with major injuries, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Daniel Costa, 51, was southbound on Arboleda Drive just north of Worden Avenue about 7:30 p.m. He was driving 55 mph in his 2000 Chevy Blazer when he crossed the center line and crashed into a concrete barrier to a canal, the CHP said in a news release.
Costa was flown to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries.
Alcohol does not seem to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation, the CHP said.
