Los Banos fireworks off for 2016, on for 2017

Los Banos will be without a fireworks show for the second straight year, an organizer confirmed.

But the leg work behind trying to make the 2016 show possible has given organizer Ray Hammersley of the Los Banos Lions Club optimism.

“We are on for next year,” Hammersley said Friday.

Hammersley said he already has received donation commitments for next year’s event from several businesses and organizations that have a history of contributing to the local fireworks show.

The Lions Club has also received a slot to sell fireworks next year either by Save Mart or Food For Less, he said.

“Half of the funds come from selling off fireworks,” Hammersley said.
