Los Banos defendant pleads not guilty to rape charges
A Los Banos man this week pleaded not guilty to felony charges of rape, sodomy and burglary in connection with the sexual assault of a disabled woman.
Oscar Rodriguez-Zamora, 31, has been charged with rape by force, sodomy, burglary and burglary with intent to rape in the July 30 attack, according to Merced Superior Court records.
Investigators said Rodriguez-Zamora and the woman know each other but have not elaborated.
Rodriguez-Zamora was arrested Aug. 2 by Los Banos police after an officer spotted him at a convenience store on Pacheco Boulevard, officials have said.
A pre-preliminary hearing has been set for Sept. 2, according to court records.
Rodriguez-Zamora was in custody Thursday at John Latorracca Correctional Center on $1 million bond, according to Merced County jail records.
