A report on crop conditions for Merced County for the week ending April 24 has been released by the Merced County Agricultural Commissioner’s office.
Oat harvest continues, and the first cutting of alfalfa is on the ground.
Corn and cotton fields are being planted. Walnut blight spraying is ongoing, and outdoor nursery stock field fumigations continue. The strawberry harvest has begun.
Sweet potato field fumigations continue, and bell pepper, sweet potato and tomato planting has started. Cantaloupe and honeydew planting has begun, and the asparagus harvest continues.
Supplemental livestock feeding continues, and rangeland conditions are good.
