Fig harvest in Merced County has started

A report on crop conditions for Merced County for the week ending July 10 has been released by the Merced County Agricultural Commissioner’s office.

About 65 percent of the wheat crop has been harvested. Wheat, along with corn and barley, are being harvested.

Corn continues to be planted and the fourth cutting of alfalfa is underway.

Peach thinning and apricot harvest are complete. The strawberry harvest is winding down. The fig harvest has begun.

Cantaloupe, honeydew, market tomato and processing tomato planting continue. Market tomato harvest continues, and the bell pepper harvest has begun.

Rangeland conditions are good.
