Ford recalls over 740,000 vehicles. See affected models
Ford Motor Company is recalling over 740,000 vehicles in the United States due to park system damage that may result in the vehicle rolling away, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
According to the recall notice posted by the NHTSA, the transmission park pawl may engage while the vehicle is in motion, resulting in park system damage.

What models are included in the recall?
The total number of vehicles affected by this recall is 741,195. The recall includes the following makes and models:
- 2018-2021 Ford Expedition
- 2020-2021 Ford Explorer
- 2021 F-150
- 2020-2021 Lincoln Aviator
- 2018-2021 Lincoln Navigator
What car owners should do
Dealers will update the powertrain control module software and inspect and replace any damaged transmission components as necessary, free of charge, according to the NHTSA.
Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed Aug. 3 and additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated by April 2027.
