Man arrested in Stockton after allegedly biting off part of an ear during fight, police say

A man was arrested Friday night in Stockton on suspicion of biting off part of another man’s ear.

In an overnight incident log, the Stockton Police Department said that Abraham Ibarra, 23, was taken into custody after a fight wherein he was alleged to have maimed his opponent.

The fight took place just after 11 p.m. on the 600 block of East Lindsay Street. Ibarra was accused of fighting with a 29-year-old man for unknown reasons, during which, a portion of the other man’s ear was bitten off.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not life threatening.

Ibarra was found at the scene of the fight and arrested on suspicion of mayhem — a rarely-invoked section of California’s penal code that refers to illegally maiming a person.
