See Beverly Hills mansion where Ed McMahon lived for 20 years: $6.795 million
The Tudor-style Beverly Hills mansion where Ed McMahon lived for 20 years has hit the market for $6.795 million.
Ed McMahon was the sidekick to legendary talk-show host Johnny Carson. He opened “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” 6,395 times.
“When Carson moved the show from New York City to Burbank, California in 1972, McMahon eventually bought a Tudor-style mansion in Beverly Hills,” wrote TopTenRealEstateDeals.com.
McMahon lived in the 7,013 square-foot, six-bedroom, seven bath home until he died in 2009 at age 86.
The mansion, which commands views of sunsets, canyons and ocean, was built in 1989. Large formal rooms open onto the pool terrace. Inside, a staircase in the sky-lit foyer leads to an upper level with an overlook. There’s a living room with fireplace, a den with wet bar and fireplace, a formal dining room, office, maid’s room and eat-in chef’s kitchen with an island and outdoor access through French doors.
Bedrooms are on the upper level with a separate guest/children’s wing. The master bedroom has a dramatic carved double-door entry, tray ceiling, a sitting area with a fireplace, generous closets with built-ins, dual baths and French doors that open to a balcony overlooking pool and the sweeping vistas.
Manicured gardens surround the pool and spa. The outdoor entertaining area has a pool, elevated firepit and a lush lawn.
The house sits on a one-third acre parcel in the Summit enclave, a gated community where pop star Britney Spears and other celebrities live.
Back in 2008, McMahon almost lost the home to foreclosure, according to the Los Angeles Times. Donald Trump was among those who vowed to save the home for McMahon. McMahon sold it to a family friend and rented it back until his death.
The home was relisted at a reduced price a week ago, from $7.895 million, according to realtor.com.
It is listed by Stephen Apelian and Joyce Rey of Coldwell Banker International Realty, Beverly Hills.
