California Gov. Gavin Newsom unveiled the May budget revision at noon today. Watch a recording of his press conference by clicking on the video above.

Earlier this year, Newsom’s initial budget called for a $5.6 billion surplus. Now, the state is facing a potential deficit of $54.3 billion, driven by the public health emergency of the coronavirus pandemic. The Democratic governor and state Legislature will need to cope with the state’s biggest budget problem since the Great Recession.
