Interactive map: See where the wildfires are burning across California

The LNU Lightning Complex fire in Napa, Sonoma, Solano and Yolo counties has grown to more than 130,000 acres through Thursday and caused evacuation orders around Vacaville, made more complicated by the coronavirus pandemic.

The LNU Lightning Complex fire is the closest large fire to Sacramento, but it’s not the only fire burning as California’s wildfire season begins. And the state’s firefighting resources are already spread thin by COVID-19 prior to the surge in lightning-caused fires.

The SCU Lightning Complex is the state’s largest as of Thursday and has burned 137,475 acres (214.8 square miles) in Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Joaquin, Stanislaus counties.

This map shows actively reported fires across the entire state. Use your mouse or touch screen to pan around and see different areas and updates.

This map shows wildfires larger than 1 acre within the past 7 days. The larger the circle, the larger the wildfire by acres. Data is from the US Department of the Interior, Office of Wildland Fire, IRWIN, NIFC, NASA, NOAA, and ESRI and is updated every 15 minutes.
