A bullet from a gun accidentally fired by an Orange County sheriff’s sergeant hit a John Wayne Airport worker in the arm Wednesday, the sheriff’s office says in a release.
The bullet hit the woman after going through a wall in a private office area at the airport at 7:02 a.m., the release says. Sheriff’s officials did not explain how the accident took place.
The woman was taken to a hospital with a non-life threatening injury, according to the release.
The offices have been closed while the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and sheriff’s department investigate the incident, the release says.
