California daylight saving time: See what some readers say about clocks falling back
On Tuesday, the California Utility Team reminded readers to change their clocks on Sunday. Daylight saving time ends this weekend.
We broke down where daylight saving time comes from and why California is still observing it, and at the bottom of our story, we asked readers what they thought should become of the odd ritual. The poll closed Friday afternoon.
A small pool of readers — 120 in total — shared their thoughts. This group is not an accurate statistical representation of Californians at large.
While just nine voters, or 8% of respondents, wanted to stick with the current “spring forward” and “fall back” system that creates later sunsets for about eight months of the year, this group of readers was split almost down the middle on whether to adopt standard time or daylight time year-round.
One swing voter gave standard time the edge: 56 respondents said they wanted permanent standard time while 55 said they preferred permanent daylight time.
Clocks fall back at 2 a.m. Sunday.
Thanks for voting!
