A man in his 50s died the night of Saturday, Nov. 13, when he was struck by two vehicles while crossing the street in Santa Monica, California, according to police.

The driver of a white Dodge Challenger with red racing stripes fled after striking the man at 8:05 p.m. on Pico Boulevard near 10th Street, police said in a news release.

After a second vehicle hit the man — who was at that point laying down on the road — that driver stopped to try to help, police said. The second driver is cooperating with investigators.

It’s unclear if the man was in a crosswalk when he was hit, KCBS reported. Neighbors said the street has not yet been repainted after being repaved recently.

Police ask that anyone with information contact investigator Evan Raleigh at 310-458-8954 or evan.raleigh@santamonica.gov, or call 310-458-8461.
