Man found at bottom of Lake Tahoe after falling out of boat, California cops say

A 58-year-old man drowned when he fell into Lake Tahoe in California, a sheriff’s office said.

Theodore Fletcher of Palo Alto fell off a boat with another person near Meeks Bay on May 5, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said.

The second person, whom authorities did not name, was able to get out of the water, deputies said.

The incident was reported around 9:20 a.m., and first responders found Fletcher 15 feet below the surface, the sheriff’s office said.

Fletcher’s body was recovered by the U.S. Coast Guard, deputies said.

He was pronounced dead at the lake, and he died from drowning, the sheriff’s office said.

Lake Tahoe water was 46 degrees the day Fletcher fell in.
