Body of missing 18-year-old found in California creek a week after crash, sheriff says
The body of a missing 18-year-old was found in a California creek a week after the truck he was inside crashed into the water, authorities said.
Eduardo Fierros and another 18-year-old were in the vehicle when it landed in Putah Creek in the Lake Solano County Park area in Winters on July 3, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office said.
Rescuers found one 18-year-old “clinging to the shoreline,” the sheriff’s office said, but Fierros never resurfaced from the water.
Friends, family and authorities searched for Fierros, and on Sunday, July 10, deputies found his body in the water.
Three days later, a coroner identified the body as being Fierros’, deputies said.
“Efi makes us laugh every minute spent with him and also gave us the realest advice we’d ever heard from anyone. Knowing him since almost kinder and him being almost like a brother to me has made it a lot harder on me but has also motivated me to keep searching,” Braulio Montes, one of Fierros’ friends, posted on Facebook last week.
Fierros is from Winters, which is about 30 miles west of Sacramento.
