Here’s who gets a mail ballot in California and when they are sent to voters

Californians will be seeing ballots in their mail boxes soon.

The upcoming general election is Nov. 8 and the ballot will include contests for state candidates for U.S. Senate, California governor, secretary of state, treasurer and more.

Who gets a mail-in ballot?

All California residents who are registered to vote will get a vote-by-mail ballot for the election.

When will the ballots get sent out?

Local county elections offices will send out ballots to voters “no later than October 10, 2022,” according to the California Secretary of State’s office.

I’m not registered. Is there a deadline?

The last day to register to vote for the November general election is Oct. 24. If you miss the deadline, you can vote with a conditional ballot at the polls on Election Day. It will be counted once your eligibility is verified.
