22-year-old vanishes walking back to cabin at lake, California sheriff says

A 22-year-old remains missing after vanishing while walking back to his cabin at Big Bear Lake, California sheriff’s officials reported.

Tanner Prentiss of Santa Barbara County, who was visiting the resort lake with friends, was last seen at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

Prentiss, wearing a black hoodie and jeans, was seen walking on Village Drive toward Big Bear Boulevard and his rental cabin after going out for the evening, deputies said.

He is a “beloved” student at the University of California, Santa Barbara, KTLA reported.

Big Bear Lake is about a 100-mile drive east from Los Angeles.
