Looking for a fine dining experience that won’t break the bank? Six new California restaurants earned Bib Gourmand honors from the Michelin Guide in 2025.

“Contrary to popular belief, the restaurants recommended within the Michelin Guides aren’t all about expensive ‘fine dining,’ ” the Michelin Guide said.

The Michelin Guide said it gives Bib Gourmand status to “restaurants that offer the best value for money,” serving quality food at affordable prices.

“Whether it’s contemporary Californian cooking in a hipster haven where the furnishings are crafted from upcycled materials, a swanky spot spotlighting regional Indian cooking or a market stall with Mexican fare, these six exciting spots with wallet-friendly menus are a must-add to your rotation,” the Michelin Guide said.

What can I expect when dining at a Bib Gourmand restaurant?

According to the Michelin Guide, not all restaurants included in the guide are fancy or pricey.

“Since 1997, our best value for money restaurants — offering a three course meal at a reasonable price — have been pointed out using a special award: the Bib Gourmand,” the Michelin Guide said.

Whether it’s a cozy neighborhood bistro, a casual noodle shop or a family-run joint, the guide said, Bib Gourmand restaurants deliver quality dining without the hefty price tag.

“It might not be as well-known as the Michelin star but the Bib Gourmand is hugely popular with our followers, and our inspectors spend an equal amount of time seeking out these restaurants,” the Michelin Guide said.

While Bib Gourmand restaurants “are all unique and can vary greatly from one place to the next,” the guide said, they all have a simple, approachable style of cooking that is easy to enjoy.

“A Bib Gourmand restaurant will also leave you with a sense of satisfaction, at having eaten so well at such a reasonable price,” the Michelin Guide said.

Which California restaurants got Bib Gourmand honor in 2025 Michelin Guide?

These were the six California restaurants that received Bib Gourmands in the 2025 Michelin Guide:

Atelier Manna

Atelier Manna in Encinitas is a stylish, eco-friendly spot run by husband-and-wife duo Andrew and Larah Bachelier, Michelin said.

With upcycled decor and a cozy patio, the restaurant serves up seasonal, locally sourced breakfast and lunch dishes.

Menu offerings include halibut with coconut leche de tigre and grilled pork with pomegranate jus.

The Michelin Guide said guests should “expect plates that are as pleasing to the eye as they are to the palate.”

Eylan

At Eylan in Menlo Park, chef Srijith Gopinathan brings a modern twist to Indian cuisine with bold, California-inspired flair.

Dishes include Dungeness crab-stuffed flatbread and wood-fired Gulf shrimp with lemongrass.

The Michelin Guide said the “compelling balance of flavors makes each dish stand on its own.”

Komal

Chef Fátima Juárez serves up signature Mexican dishes at this restaurant at Los Angeles’ Mercado La Paloma food court, specializing in corn.

“Heirloom varieties sourced from Mexico and nixtamalized in-house form the heart of the menu,” the Michelin Guide said.

Komal’s signature dishes highlight bold flavors and house-made touches, with options including squash blossom quesadillas, tacos with short rib and plantain balls in smoky mole.

Pho Momma

Pho Momma in Sacramento’s La Riveria neighborhood serves up pho with chicken or beef and a variety of toppings, including house-made pork wontons.

Also on the menu are several appetizers and soupless dishes, with the rice paper spring rolls — filled with meat, seafood or vegan options and served with a “tangy peanut dipping sauce”— getting special praise.

“It may not look like much from the outside, but there’s a reason that pho lovers flock to this unassuming strip-mall operation,” the Michelin Guide said.

Rasarumah

Rasarumah in Los Angeles serves flavorful Malaysian food.

Chef Johnny Lee’s menu includes tasty dishes including chicken satay, steamed eggplant with spicy sambal and rich beef rendang curry with buttery roti.

“To finish, look no further than the cendol sundae with coconut and pandan ice cream with pandan jelly noodles, red bean, gula melaka syrup and toasted buckwheat,” the Michelin Guide said.

Vin Folk

In Hermosa Beach, Vin Folk offers a warm, welcoming vibe and a menu full of flavorful, shareable dishes with global flair, Michelin said.

Chefs Kevin De Los Santos and Katya Shastova serve up creative options, including a mussels tart in fennel cream and Jidori chicken.

“Vin Folk is the kind of place you want to come again and again,” the Michelin Guide said.
