A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Tulare County, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 2:48 p.m. on Avenue 384, west of Road 118 in rural Tulare County. CHP officers and emergency personnel responded to the scene.

According to CHP, the driver of a black 2015 Ford Mustang was traveling east on Avenue 384, west of Road 118 at an unknown speed. For unknown reasons, the Mustang’s driver allowed his vehicle to cross over the double yellow lines into westbound traffic and collided head on with a white Ford pickup.

The 21-year-old male driver of the Mustang was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, CHP said. He was pronounced dead on scene.

CHP said the driver of the Ford pickup, a 62-year-old male, sustained major injuries and was transported to Kaweah Medical Center in Visalia.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drug use contributed to the crash, CHP said.

The identities of the drivers was not released as of Tuesday.
