Birthday luck: Player wins $400,000 at Sacramento-area casino

An Elk Grove man won big last month on a $5 progressive bet at the Sky River Casino while celebrating his wife’s birthday.

While playing Double Up Blackjack, a player identified as Ramchand B. won $400,000 after hitting the Triple Diamond Bonus Spin Extreme on Monday, June 22.

“The gigantic win was undoubtedly life changing,” said casino president and general manager Michael Facenda. “We welcome the community to celebrate special occasions, plus make every day special here at Sky River.”

Double Up Blackjack featuring the Triple Diamond Bonus Spin is an enhanced version of traditional blackjack with an optional progressive side bet, the casino said in an emailed news release.

Sky River Casino first opened in August 2022 and features 120,000 square feet of gaming, 2,500 slot machines, 81 table games and a variety of restaurants and bars.

Owned by the Wilton Rancheria in partnership with Boyd Gaming Corporation, the casino is located at 1 Sky River Parkway in Elk Grove, about a 15-mile drive southeast from downtown Sacramento.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
