Woman injured in Merced collision on Friday
One person suffered minor injuries Friday morning in a two-vehicle collision on G Street in Merced, the Police Department reported.
The identity of the injured woman and the driver of the Honda Accord in which she was riding were not immediately available.
The victim was described by police as an “elderly woman.” She was taken to an area hospital after complaining of pain in her neck, Officer Jeff Gonzales said.
Police said two vehicles collided just after 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of G Street and Donna Drive.
Ardene Shaeffer of Merced was heading west on Donna in a Lexus SUV when she was struck by a Honda Accord heading south on G Street. Shaeffer’s vehicle overturned in the intersection.
“I’m fine; very lucky,” she said. “Thank God for seat belts.”
Police said both parties believed they had a green light. A witness provided police with information but left before officers could get the individual’s name.
“We’d like to talk to that person again so we can use their information,” Gonzales said.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Gonzales at (209) 385-6905.
