A 21-year-old Modesto man was arrested Wednesday after hundreds of pounds of illegal fireworks, explosive devices and multiple weapons were seized during a search warrant operation, according to the Modesto Police Department.

Toby Ovrahim allegedly posted videos on social media of him igniting M-style explosive devices, tossing them from a moving vehicle and launching aerial fireworks in residential neighborhoods.

On Tuesday, at a residence in the 2400 block of Brandy Court, investigators seized about 311 pounds of illegal fireworks, 130 M-style explosive devices, 13 pairs of brass knuckles, 12 firearms and an assault weapon.

A Fire Investigation Unit investigator, helping with the investigation, took custody of the explosive devices.

Ovrahim was taken into custody without incident and issued a $12,000 administrative citation for city code violations related to illegal fireworks.

He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on other charges including possession of explosive devices, illegal fireworks exceeding 100 pounds, an assault weapon, and brass knuckles.

“Remember, illegal fireworks are dangerous and against the law,” reads a Facebook post by MPD. “Help us keep our community safe – report fireworks violations to Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636, or online at www.stancrimetips.org.”
