Video posted by Fresno councilmember shows person smashing windshield with bat

An unidentified person is shown in a video attacking a vehicle after being confronted over graffiti, according to a video and social post from a Fresno city councilmember.

Councilmember Miguel Arias shared a video Thursday that showed a man attacking a vehicle with a baseball bat in the Tower District.

Arias said the attack had been recorded earlier that day. The person recording was sitting inside the vehicle and had just confronted the bat-wielding man for allegedly graffitiing the area, Arias said.

The car’s GPS is visible at one point in the video and appears to have been parked near Olive and Palm avenues during the incident, according to what’s visible in the video.

“If anyone can help identify him, it would be greatly appreciated. We need to hold him accountable for his actions,” Arias wrote, asking community members to message him with any information.

Fresno police Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said authorities are investigating the vandalism.
