Five Guys burger chain closes another location in the Valley. Here’s where
National burger chain Five Guys‘ Hanford restaurant is permanently closing Friday, the second location in the Valley within a week.
Thursday is the restaurant’s last day of operations. The burger chain will be open to the public until 9 p.m.
The restaurant, at 1693 West Lacey Blvd Ste A, employed 14 people. Its Merced restaurant closed June 26, cutting 13 jobs, according to notifications filed with California’s Employment Development Department.
Five Guys did not respond for comment when reached out about the closure of the two Valley locations.
While the Hanford restaurant doesn’t have a “closing date sign” on the door, employees said they were informing customers about the restaurant’s last day of operations.
Employee Joseph De La Mora said some customers were unhappy about the news, as many of its clientele came from Visalia.
Another employee, Ian McCarthy, who has worked at the Hanford location for five years, said some of them will stay on for a few more days to help with the closing of the location, including deep cleaning.
McCarthy said the “Five Guys” big red letters sign was taken down over the weekend from the front of the building.
The burger chain, which was launched in the Washington, D.C, area in 1998, is known for its hand-formed beef patties, its peanut oil fries accompanied by cups of shelled peanuts, and its thick, hand-spun milkshakes.
The Hanford location opened in the Hanford Mall complex in August 2016 to large crowds and lines out the door.
Five Guys still has two restaurants’ locations in Fresno - Fashion Fair and River Park and one in Clovis on Herndon Avenue.
