‘American Pickers’ looking for Merced-area collections
The “American Pickers” want to pick through Merced-area antique collections, junk piles and other unique treasures.
Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, hosts of the History Channel’s hit television series, are returning to California in March and hoping to find Merced County-area residents with large collections, priced to sell.
Cineflix Productions, the show’s production company, has put out the word that Wolfe and Fritz want to stop at some Northern California locations.
“They’re looking for anything interesting; from old signage to motorcycles and any vintage memorabilia,” Tamar Herman, a casting associate, said in an interview with the Sun-Star. “We’re looking for leads throughout the region, specifically interesting characters with interesting items and lots of them.”
Area residents with interesting or unique items are encouraged to contact producers. The series features everything from vintage musical equipment, bicycles, movie memorabilia, and military items, to pre-1950s western gear, early firefighting equipment and folk art.
Now in its 14th season, the series features the duo traveling the country and “picking” for valuable memorabilia and antiques to resell. The series averages about 3 million viewers per week and new episodes air at 9 p.m. Wednesdays on History.
