See dramatic photos, videos of the Creek Fire burning in California

The Creek Fire continues to burn near Shaver Lake in Fresno County. As of Friday morning, the wildfire had grown to 196,667 acres and was at 6% containment.

Cal Fire reported Thursday morning that more than 360 structures, including 60 homes and 277 commercial and residential mixed-use buildings, were destroyed by the fire. Another 29 structures were considered damaged.

See the orange glow over California

The wildfires were creating a strange glow of orange and yellow, with smoke that blocked the sun across California. In fact, that eerie glow of the fires across the West Coast can be seen 20 miles out in the Pacific Ocean.

How animals and pets are impacted

More than 300 pets are being housed inside the Granite Ridge Intermediate School wrestling room in Clovis because of the Creek Fire, and the Fresno Fairgrounds is now full with horses, sheep, goats, pigs and cows that have been evacuated from the fire zone.

Cressman’s General Store destroyed

On Sept. 8, the landmark Cressman’s General Store along Highway 168 burned in the Creek Fire, along with both sides of Highway 168 at the top of the four-lane below Shaver Lake.
