7-Eleven worker beaten, doused with coffee after telling man to wear mask, IN cops say
Police in Indiana are searching for a man they say assaulted a 7-Eleven worker who told him to wear a mask.
Around 9 a.m. Wednesday, a man went into a 7-Eleven in Mishawaka without wearing a mask, police said in a release obtained by WNDU.
The store displays signs telling customers that they are required to wear face coverings in accordance with coronavirus guidance from the St. Joseph County Health Department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the South Bend Tribune reported.
When the man tried to buy a cup of coffee, the worker told him she couldn’t serve him because he wasn’t wearing a mask, according to WNDU.
That’s when the man threw the cup of coffee on the worker and left the store, WSBT reported.
He returned later and when the worker asked him to leave, the man punched her and she fell to the ground, according to WSBT. Police said the man continued to punch and kick her before leaving the 7-Eleven.
Police describe the suspect as a male between 20 and 25 years old in jeans with holes, a black or dark gray hooded coat and blue tennis shoes, the Tribune reported. He’s believed to be 5’ 9” and 150 pounds, according to the Tribune.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Mishawaka Police at 574-258-1684.
Mishawaka is roughly 80 miles northwest of Fort Wayne.
