At-home rapid COVID-19 test kits are available to anyone in Merced County on Tuesday, Dec. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. outside the Merced College administration building.

The free test giveaway is meant to provide rapid coronavirus tests to as many members of the community as possible before people gather for the holidays, a representative of Merced College said in an email.

“At-home tests are a great way to ensure the health and safety of you and your loved ones, providing confidence that you’re infection-free before gathering for the holidays,” said Jill Cunningham, associate vice president of external relations at Merced College. “People who do not have symptoms can still spread COVID-19, so test to know before you go.”

The giveaway is part of a larger initiative at Merced College called You & Me COVID-Free and is aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the Merced area. Representatives from Merced College, United Way, Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and other organizations in the Merced community collaborated on the initiative.
