Teacher Leadership Institute
The UC Merced Writing Project’s Teacher Leadership Institute, an intensive learning experience on effective teaching practices, is planned this summer. Those in the class meet from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for four weeks in the summer. CASA annual fundraiser
Court Appointed Special Advocates’ annual fundraiser, “The CASA Cup: A Night at the Races,” will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. April 18 at the Merced County Fairgrounds in Merced. This will be an evening with fabulous food and “authentic” horse racing. Tickets are $75, and table sponsorships are available. Mental Health Board meetings
The Merced County Mental Health Board meets the first Tuesday of every month from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at 1137 B St., Merced. Everyone is invited to attend.
Annual Green Tour
The sixth annual Green Tour, with a theme of “Learn How to Save Water, Money, Energy and Protect the Beauty of Our World,” will be held Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m. at 10181 Olive Ave., Livingston. The Valley Land Alliance annual dinner will follow the tour at the same location. The cost is $20 per person. Merced Camera Club meets

Pet carriers needed
New Beginnings of Merced needs carriers for the 200-plus animals the group moves from animal control to no-kill rescues each month. Any useable carriers appropriate for animals 30 pounds and under are acceptable as well as new carriers or funds for their purchase. Receipts can be provided for tax purposes.
