Driver taken to hospital after 16th Street rollover crash in Merced, police say
A Merced man was taken to the hospital Wednesday with injuries following a solo-vehicle rollover crash, according to the Merced Police Department.
According to Officer Craig McKeeman, officers responded to the crash in the 1500 block of West 16th Street, near V Street, at about 2:06 p.m..
Authorities said the driver, who is in his 60s, was traveling eastbound on 16th street when for unknown reasons, the sedan drifted to the right and collided with the curb and a fire hydrant before rolling over and striking a Chevrolet Camaro parked at a nearby business.
The driver, who was pinned inside the vehicle, was removed by firefighters before being transported to a Modesto area hospital with unknown injuries, according to McKeeman. Police said one fire hydrant is out of service and there is no disruption to the water lines.
