New Beginnings gets $95K donation to help Merced County animals

Staff at New Beginnings for Merced County Animals and Stanislaus Animal Services Agency in Modesto were surprised last week with grant investments totaling in the amount of $320,000 from the Petco Foundation, providing funding to help local pets in need, according to a foundation news release.

New Beginnings for Merced County Animals received a $95,000 grant investment, while Stanislaus Animal Services Agency received a grant investment for $225,000.

The effort was part of $10 million in grant investments the Petco Foundation will be committing to animal welfare organizations across the country as part of their annual investment process to find and invest in the most effective lifesaving animal welfare organizations nationwide, the release said.

New Beginnings for Merced County Animals is a nonprofit based in Winton. It promotes adoption, spay-neuter and other efforts.

Stanislaus Animal Services Agency works to establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment between humans and animals in Stanislaus County.

Petco, based in San Diego, has about 1,500 stores in the United States and Mexico. They include locations in Modesto, Riverbank, Turlock, Atwater, Los Banos and Manteca.
