Merced-area law enforcement and community come together for Coffee with a Cop

Members of local law enforcement agencies met with people from the community during Coffee with a Cop at Starbucks, located at 360 W. 16th Street in Merced, Thursday morning.

Officers from the Merced area CHP, Merced Police Department, Merced County Probation and Merced County Sheriff’s Office participated in the event.

According to CHP Officer Eric Zuniga, the event is a way for law enforcement to come together with the community and answer any questions people may have in a relaxed environment.

Zuniga said the CHP has been holding the Coffee with a Cop event, which happens with agencies nationwide in different areas of Merced County for the past three years.

Winton resident Donald Ferguson, a member of the Christian Motorcycles Association, said he has attended the event about three to four times.

“I have a relationship now with theses officers that’s just fantastic”, said Ferguson.

Ferguson said that he’s grateful to the officers for their service, hard work and dedication.
