The Merced County Fair may have been canceled for 2020, but people can still purchase some of their favorite fair food.

The Merced County Fair has teamed up with Valley fair food vendors to create “Fair Food Fridays” at the Merced County Fairgrounds. In a drive-thru setup, people can buy corn dogs, kettle corn, icees, cinnamon rolls, funnel cakes, pizza and cotton candy at special prices.

“We wanted to bring something positive to the fairgrounds and give the community something fun to do while still aligning with the pandemic guidelines,” said 2020 Merced County Fair, CEO Teresa Burrola.

“So we came up with the idea to have a drive-thru food event! It has definitely put a smile on people’s faces and our food vendors could not be more thankful for the support. We look forward to continuing our ‘Fair Food Fridays’ throughout the month and into June.”

The event is cash-only to keep the line of cars moving as quickly as possible.

The dates the fair food will be available are: May 8, 15, 22, 29 and June 5 and June 11-13. The food will be available on those dates from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Merced County Fairgrounds is located at 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Customers are asked to enter the fairgrounds on 11th Street and exit on Childs Avenue.
