Merced parents, students show appreciation for Chenoweth Elementary staff with car parade

The Parent Teacher Club at Donn B. Chenoweth Elementary School organized an appreciation parade on Friday morning to honor the teachers, staff and administrators.

Over 60 staff members, wearing face masks, lined up on the sidewalk in front of the school at 3200 N. Parsons Ave. and watched as parents and students passed by in cars. Parents honked horns and kids held signs that expressed their appreciation for teachers. Some staff members made signs of their own to show how much they miss their students.

There were about 50 cars that slowly drove down Parsons Avenue as students and teachers were able to see each other in person for one of the few times since the schools were shut down because of the coronavirus.
