15-year-old killed in fatal motorcycle crash with big rig north of Delhi, CHP says

A teenager was killed in a motorcycle collision with a big rig Sunday northwest of Delhi in Merced County, the California Highway Patrol said..

According to CHP Merced Officer Eric Zuniga, officers were called to the intersection of Bradbury Road and East Clausen Road just before 4:30 p.m.

Zuniga said that the 15-year-old boy was driving a Yamaha motorcycle north on Flower Street approaching Bradbury, when the driver ran a stop sign at the intersection. The motorcycle was then struck by a big rig crossing the intersection.

The 15-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Zuniga said the driver of the 2010 Kenworth big rig, identified as 28-year-old Jonathan Calderon of Turlock, is cooperating with the investigation. Authorities said the teenager was not wearing a helmet and neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be involved in the collision.
