Overturned big rig reported on westbound Highway 152 west of Los Banos, CHP says

Officers are currently on scene of a crash involving a big rig on highway 152 west of Los Banos, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to Sgt. Chris Smith officers arrived on scene to a call of an overturned big rig in the area of Highway 152 and Interstate 5 at about 11:52 a.m. Wednesday.

Smith said the big rig hauling paper products, was traveling westbound on Highway 152 when it attempted to merge onto I-5 and overturned partially blocking the number two lane. No other vehicles were involved in the collision and the driver was not injured, according to the CHP.

Smith said the California Department of Transportation is en route to the scene to upright the truck. The CHP said it did not have an estimate of when the lane would reopen saying it could be several hours before the scene is cleared.

According to Smith, the collision is still under investigation and neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor.
