A 34-year-old San Diego woman was killed Thursday, in a solo vehicle traffic collision northwest of Los Banos, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman’s name was not released, pending notification or family or next of kin.

Officers responded at about 12:05 p.m. to a report of a solo-vehicle collision into a center median guardrail on Interstate 5 just south of Butts Road, according to a news release.

Authorities said the woman was driving a 2012 Hyundai Accent southbound on I-5 in the number one lane when for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway onto the east dirt shoulder.

The vehicle then impacted a metal guardrail before coming to rest in the center median. Authorities said the vehicle was traveling at an unknown rate of speed.

Authorities said the driver was not wearing a seat belt. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the collision which remains under investigation, according the CHP.
