Atwater celebrates 4th of July with ‘Patriotic Porch Parade’
Although Fourth of July in Atwater will be much different than usual this year, the patriotic spirit of many residents is nonetheless unshakable, without a doubt.
The evidence of that love of liberty is on display throughout the city this year, as many residents have decorated their homes for the city’s “Patriotic Porch Parade.”
City officials spearheaded the event as an alternative way for residents to safely show their patriotism amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Residents, businesses and other registered their homes and establishments for decoration. The city has an online map showing all the locations of decorated sites.
A panel of judges that included Mayor Paul Creighton, Supervisor Daron McDaniel and Police Chief Michael Salvador reviewed over 60 homes.
