Pedestrian struck and killed on 99 near Livingston identified as 30-year-old woman
A woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle while attempting to run across Highway 99 near Livingston has been identified at Charlene Webb, 30, according to Deputy Daryl Allen, spokesperson for the Merced County Coroner.
Webb is believed to be from the Las Vegas, Nevada area. Although California Highway Patrol investigators continue to look into the circumstances behind Webb’s death, no new details were available Monday.
Officers responded to Highway 99 south of Sultana Drive at about 12:30 a.m. Aug. 5., the CHP reported.
Authorities said Webb and a male occupant were traveling southbound on Highway 99 in a vehicle when the driver pulled to the right shoulder of the road. Authorities said it was unclear who was driving the vehicle.
For unknown reasons, Webb exited the vehicle and ran across southbound lanes of traffic before jumping over the median. Webb then attempted to cross the northbound lanes, where she was struck by an SUV, the CHP said.
