Some good news for western Merced County in wake of SCU Lightning Complex Fire

The evacuation warning for Merced County due to the SCU Lightening Complex Fire has been lifted by the Merced County Sheriff’s Office and the SCU incident command.

The evacuation warning was lifted at 1 p.m. for the area north of Highway 152 to Interstate 5 to the Santa Clara County line and Stanislaus County line, excluding Santa Nella; east of Santa Clara County line and Stanislaus County line to the Delta Mendota Canal and south of the Stanislaus County line to Highway 152.

The evacuation warning was issued on Aug. 21.

According to CalFire, the SCU Lightning Complex Fire has affected five counties and has burned 372, 971 acres and is 35% contained.
