Teen driver flown to hospital after rollover collision on M Street in north Merced

A teenage driver was taken to the hospital Tuesday after a solo-vehicle rollover collision in Merced.

Officer responded at 1:41 p.m. to the collision in the 3300 block of M Street, according to a Merced Police Department news release.

According to police. the driver, a 19-year-old man, suffered moderate injuries when the vehicle struck a eucalyptus tree and rolled onto its roof. The driver was flown to an area hospital for treatment.

Authorities did not release the name of the driver.

According to police, intoxication is not suspected as being a factor in the collision. Officers with the Merced Police Department traffic unit are investigating the cause of the collision.

The Merced Police Department responded to the scene of a serious vehicle rollover collision involving an SUV Tuesday afternoon on M Street, south of Buena Vista Drive.

Traffic was impacted, though the scene had been cleared up by mid Tuesday afternoon.

Few details were immediately available. It is unknown how many occupants were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and the extent of any injuries.
