Merced County to host drive-thru Veterans Day parade Thursday on Main Street
Merced County’s 17th Annual Veterans Day Parade is scheduled to he held Thursday afternoon in downtown Merced on West Main Street.
According to an announcement on Merced County’s Facebook page, the parade has been designed as a drive-thru experience due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
That means parade floats and participants will be positioned along Main Street between G and M streets, and the public will be able to drive through the event.
According to the county’s website, the parade will follow a route along Main Street in downtown Merced.
The public is invited to drive thru the event any time between 1 and 4 p.m. Due to street closures along Main Street, the public may enter the parade route at R or M streets, heading east toward G Street, according to the county’s website.
The parade format will allow for spacing between parade entries and no direct contact with the public, the website said.
A virtual ceremony is scheduled to be broadcast at 12 p.m. followed by the drive-thru parade at 1 p.m. Both can be watched on Merced County’s Facebook page.
