Merced police investigating collision that left pedestrian with major injuries

The Merced Police Department is investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Friday night.

Officers responded to the intersection G and East 21st streets at 10:29 p.m., according to a social media post by the Merced Police Department.

The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was transported to an area trauma center. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperative with investigators. At this time, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor.
