Deputy county counsel selected by Gavin Newsom to be Merced County Superior Court judge
Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday named a new judge to serve on the Merced County Superior Court — the second judge named to the local bench in the last three months.
Jennifer O. Trimble, 46, a native of Turlock, was appointed to the open position created by the vacancy of Judge Jeanne E. Schechter in the Merced County Superior Court, according to the governor’s announcement.
Trimble has worked as chief deputy County counsel at the Office of the Merced County Counsel for the last four years.
Before that, was an attorney at Dependency Legal Services for five years. For the first 11 years of her career, she was an attorney at Trimble & Trimble in Modesto.
Trimble is registered without party preference, according to a news release sent by the governor’s office on Monday afternoon.
Stephanie Jamieson, a former Merced County deputy public defender, was appointed to the bench in November by Newsom, who appointed 10 other judges to superior court vacancies up and down the state that month.
Each superior court judgeship pays an annual salary of $225,074, according to the governor’s office, up slightly from the previous superior court judge salary of $223,829 a year..

- Nicholas F. Daum, Mark A. Davis, Dean J. Kitchens, Tiana J. Murillo and Bradley S. Phillips to the Los Angeles County Superior Court
- Adrianne E. Marshack, Yolanda V. Torres and Fernando Valle to the Orange County Superior Court
- Patrick K. Palacios to the San Benito County Superior Court
- Nadia J. Keilani, Sherry M. Thompson-Taylor and Leonard N. Trinh to the San Diego County Superior Court
- Patrick S. Thompson to the San Francisco County Superior Court
- Kristi J. Peariso to the Ventura County Superior Court
