Fire destroys home near Dos Palos, multiple people displaced, Cal Fire officials say
Multiple people have been displaced after a fire destroyed a home near Dos Palos on Wednesday, according to fire officials.
At around 3 a.m., firefighters responded to the structure fire in the 20000 block of Lexington Avenue near Almond Street just outside Dos Palos, according to Cal Fire Merced County Capt. Miguel Sanchez.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find a single story residential structure with flames coming from the roof, fire officials said.
According to Sanchez, nobody was home at the time of the fire, which firefighters prevented from spreading to neighboring structures.
“We were able to hold it to that structure,” Sanchez said.
Fire officials said three engines, a water tender and a total of about five fire personnel responded to the scene.
According to Sanchez, at least four people received assistance from the American Red Cross and multiple people have been displaced by the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation
