Oakhurst man identified as motorcyclist killed in Mariposa County collision

The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office has identified a motorcyclist killed in a Mariposa County collision as Dillon Crossman, 33, of Oakhurst, according to Deputy Kristie Mitchell.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the collision on Highway 49, north of Pegleg road in the Bootjack area at about 2:40 p.m. on April 28.

According to the CHP, Crossman was riding a 2004 Honda motorcycle north on Highway 49 at a high rate of speed while passing vehicles.

Authorities said a 66-year-old woman driving a 2022 Toyota pickup was making a left turn into a private driveway when the motorcyclist collided with the right side of the vehicle.

The collision caused Crossman to be ejected from the motorcycle and suffer fatal injuries. Authorities said the driver of the Toyota was not injured in the collision.
