Woman struck and killed by Amtrak train in Planada identified by Merced County coroner

The Merced County Coroner has identified a pedestrian struck and killed by a train in Planada on June 1, as Ma. Guadalupe Ruiz Sandoval, 74 of Planada, according to Merced County Undersheriff Corey Gibson.

Authorities responded to collision at about 8:57 a.m. in the area of East Childs Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Sandoval was struck by an Amtrak train traveling south. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
