Caltrans to begin road project along Highway 140, starting at Merced/Mariposa County line
Crews are expected to begin work on a roadway rehabilitation project in Mariposa County next week, according to the California Department of Transportation.
The pavement rehabilitation project will take place along a section of Highway 140 from the Mariposa/Merced County line to about one mile east of Trower Road in Mariposa County, according to a Caltrans news release.
During the rehabilitation project, roughly 24 lane miles of road will be ground and overlayed with rubberized asphalt and concrete which Caltrans says will improve ride quality and prevent future costly repairs along the route.
The road is key for surrounding communities and businesses, plus visitors to Mariposa and Yosemite National Park.
According to Caltrans, construction is expected to begin Monday, Sept. 12, and continue through Nov. 2022. During the construction, crews plan to employ one-way traffic control between the hours of 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. Monday through Friday.
Caltrans said motorists can expect to experience delays of up to 10 minutes and are advised to seek alternate routes when possible.
