A driver killed in a solo-vehicle collision near Los Banos has been identified by the Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office as 21-year old Vicente Alberto Uribe, according to Merced County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Michelle Oliver.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the collision in the area of Badger Flat Road, north of Highway 152 at about 10:15 p.m. Nov. 19. The CHP said it appears the driver of a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling south on Badger Flat Road at an unknown speed.

The vehicle then left the roadway onto the dirt shoulder and the driver lost control. The vehicle collided with a PG&E power pole before getting stuck in a fence, authorities said. Officers located Uribe pinned in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.
