The cotton candy, corn dogs, ice cream, pretzels and all the popular fair food return as the Merced County Spring Fair kicks off on Wednesday in Los Banos.

The fair will be held Wednesday through Sunday at the Los Banos Fairgrounds with the gates opening at 10 a.m. The annual May Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m., which starts downtown and ends at the fairgrounds.

Tickets for the fair can be purchased at the fair box office at the fairgrounds, which is located at 403 F St. The midway will open at 3 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, at noon on Friday and 11 a.m. both weekend days.

The Merced County Spring Fair returned last year after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fair drew big crowds as people showed they were ready to have fun again.

There will be plenty of entertainment on hand this year with the return of the Alaskan Racing Pigs, dance performances by local studios, music and a hypnotist. On Friday night there will be a destruction derby at 7 p.m. and on Saturday night there will be a truck and tractor pull at 7 p.m.

There will also be livestock, photo, art, cooking and craft exhibits on hand for fairgoers.
